Bullets Beat Swarthmore for Seventh Straight Win

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A 21-5 run over the final 7:22 of the first half fueled a 52-point opening stanza as Gettysburg claimed its seventh consecutive win, defeating Swarthmore College 77-51 in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon in Bream Gymnasium.

Gettysburg junior forward Alyssa Oursler led the effort with a game-high 19 points while senior forward Lauren Dadigan tallied a career-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Dadigan's jumper at the 6:48 mark in the first half kicked off the decisive run, and her lay-up with 1:17 to go took Gettysburg to the break leading 52-30.

Madeline Ross led Swarthmore (8-10, 6-8 CC) with 15 points off the bench. Kayla Moritzky added 10 points while Elle Larsen posted eight points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Senior center Sara Kinsley was the leading defensive presence for the Bullets (11-8, 9-5 CC) as she recorded four blocks and seven rebounds. Kinsley also helped facilitate the offense with a game-high five assists.

Gettysburg entered the game ranked fifth in Division III in field-goal percentage defense and held the Garnet to 25.8 percent shooting. Gettysburg has limited its opponent under 40 percent for eight straight games and under 30 percent in five of the last seven.

The Bullets, who shot a blistering 65.6 percent in the first half, held the lead from the 18:36 mark in the opening period on a lay-up by Oursler. In the second half, the hosts' advantage never dropped below 19 points. Gettysburg led by as much as 30 with 12:18 to go on a lay-up by freshman forward Jenna Swope.

The Bullets shot 44.8 percent from the field, their third-highest percentage of the season and their fifth game above 40 percent.

Gettysburg turned the ball over 13 times to Swarthmore's 18, and the home team out-rebounded the Garnet 48-40. Gettysburg dished out 21 assists to Swarthmore's 10.
