TACOMA, Wash. – Just as in appeared that the Willamette Bearcats had clawed back into the game, the Puget Sound women's basketball turned up the heat on its way to a 70-51 win. The Loggers (10-8, 6-3 NWC) closed the game with a 19-5 run to come away with the convincing win. 

Kelsey McKinnis led the charge for the Loggers with 18 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Jocelyn Riordan pitched in a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Forshay also had 10 points and seven boards.

For Willamette (1-17, 0-9 NWC), Kaleigh Westermann led the team with 15 points while Mackenzie Lamson contributed 14 points off the bench.

The Loggers opened the game with a 6-2 lead but the Bearcats came back with the next four points to tie the game at 6-6. Forshay put the Loggers back on top with a three-pointer at the 14:09 mark top spark an 8-0 Logger run. The Loggers would lead comfortably the rest of the way.

In the second half, the Bearcats began closing the gap and cut the lead to 51-46 on a jumper from Julia Brand with just under 12 minutes left. Over the final 12 minutes, the Loggers responded with a 19-5 run and limited the Bearcats to just one field goal.

The Loggers conclude their four-game homestand tomorrow when the host Pacific at 6 p.m.
