Well Rounded Rutgers-Camden Tops Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. – The Rutgers-Camden women's basketball team posted a 71-42 win over Caltech on Monday evening at the Braun Athletic Center.

There were 11 players who played at least 10 minutes and scored at least one field goal for the Scarlet Raptors.

The Scarlet Raptors opened the contest by scoring nine of the first 11 points. The Beavers fought back and got their deficit down to 11-9 after a Marlyn Moore three-pointer with 14:14 remaining in the half.

Rutgers-Camden stretched their lead to 29-12 courtesy of an 18-3 scoring spurt over the game's next seven-plus minutes. The visitors eventually took a 42-16 lead into the locker room. The Scarlet Raptors Brittany Turner went 7-for-12 from the field to aid her 16-point first-half performance.

The second half was played even throughout. Caltech converted 45 percent (9-for-20) while Rutgers-Camden nailed 14 of their 32 field attempts (43.8 percent) as the visitors held a plus-three scoring margin in the final stanza in taking the win.

Turner had a game high 22 points while playing 21 minutes. Alex Koutras recorded 12 points while Lillian Chukwueze tallied a 10-point effort to round of the double figure scorers for Rutgers-Camden.

Teri Juarez scored a team high and personal season best 18 points to pace the Beavers scoring. The senior grabbed a game high 14 rebounds in posting her second double-double of the year. Rachel Hess contributed a 13-point effort while Moore chipped in 11 points. The trio played all 40 minutes.
