Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday as they knocked off the defending CUNYAC Champions Baruch College, by a 64-48 score at the West Quad Center.

The win boosts the Bulldogs record to 12-5 and a perfect 6-0 in CUNYAC play, putting the team in the driver's seat for the #1 seed in the conference tournament.

"Today was a big win for our program," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "Baruch has been the dominant team for the past few years and we know that if we are going to have a shot at a title, we will have to go through them."

BC did just that on Saturday, led by junior guard Charnelle Saint Laurent, who led all scorers with 26 points, converting on five of six shots from behind the arc.  She also filled up the box score with five boards, five assists, three steals and a blocked shot.

"I thought that Charnelle was excellent today," said Lang of the day's star.  "She was on fire from three, but she also made great decisions and drove the lane with confidence."

The Bulldogs took a one point lead into the locker room at the half, 25-24, as Saint Laurent's 11 points led all scorers.  Coming out of the half, the team got a quick basket by Justine O'Callahan to extend the lead to three, but then struggled over the next three minutes, as some missed shots and untimely turnovers led to a 13-2 run by Baruch, giving the Bearcats an eight point advantage.

After a Brooklyn timeout, the Bulldogs would see a rise out of their defensive intensity lead to a huge 24-2 run that would last for a 12 minute span, giving the home team a 53-39 lead with 4:36 remaining.

Baruch would finally silence the home crowd, as she knocked down a jumper, but Saint Laurent would answer with possibly the biggest basket of the game as she drove, made the basket and consequent free throw for the three-point play,
extending the Brooklyn lead to 15.

Baruch would answer with two Kiara Johnson free throws, but O'Callahan came back with a layup of her owh, and then after a Baruch turnover, Saint Laurent would answer with another three pointer to extend the lead to 18.

Duleba once again answered with a bucket for the Bearcats, but Saint Laurent was not done, as she drove the lane, this time dishing to senior Lauren Plagainos, who hit another three, to give the Bulldogs their largest lead of the game, a 19-point advantage, 64-45, with 2:27 to play, and clinching the victory for BC.

O'Callahan was the other BC player in double figures with 12 points and pulled down a team-high nine boards.  Freshman guard Nicole Francomano was a huge catalyst in the win, dishing out seven assists to go along with eight pionts and six boards.

Plagainos had a game-high five steals to go along with six points, while Tiffany Thompson had eight points and six boards in the win.

Baruch was led by Duleba's 14 points, while freshman Sheridan Taylor had a double-double of 10 points and 16 boards for the Bearcats.

Brooklyn will travel to non-league opponent NJCU on Monday for a 5:30 tip-off before heading to John Jay on Wednesday evening in their next conference game.
