EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) scored a game-high 28 points, one of five Red Devils to compile at least eight points, lifting the Red Devils to an 81-62 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Webster, Tuesday night at the Reagan Center.  The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak in the all-time series against the Gorloks.

The Gorloks (4-9, 2-2 SLIAC) jumped out in front in the first four minutes of the game before Eureka (9-3, 3-2 SLIAC) claimed a 9-7 advantage on an inside bucket from junior guard Jay Stewart (Taylorville, Ill./Taylorville H.S./Illinois State) with 15:07 to play in the first half.  Webster forced the second tie of the half, 11-11, less than two minutes later before Eureka took the lead for good on a jumper by sophomore guard Kiley Bugaeiski (Tremont, Ill./Tremont H.S.) for a 13-11 cushion at the 12:22 mark.

Eureka eventually used a 27-10 burst over the final 10-minutes, 21-seconds of the half to open up a 46-25 lead at intermission.  The Red Devils scored 17 points unanswered points at one point during the surge, while the Eureka defense held the Gorloks without a field goal for more than six minutes midway through the half.  Eeten scored 12 points in the first half to pace EC, which held a sizable 26-11 advantage on the glass through the first 20 minutes.

The Red Devils enjoyed a sizable advantage throughout the second half and never let their advantage dip below 15 points in the final 27 minutes of the game.  A jumper from senior forward Lisa Byard (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S.) pushed the hosts to their largest lead of the night, 61-35, with 12:20 left in regulation.

Eeten finished the game with 28 points, made all 12 of her free throw attempts and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.  Senior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) chipped in with 14 points and five offensive boards, while Byard scored 10 points for her first double-digit performance in more than a month.  Freshman guard Jenna Brooks (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) came off the bench to distribute a game-high five assists in 24 minutes of action.  Stewart made her first career start.  The Red Devils owned a 38-24 rebounding advantage for the night.

Webster's Kaliann Rikard led three Gorloks with 16 points off the bench.  Webster's bench scored 33 points, more than half of the Gorloks' offensive output for the game.

Eureka's victory on Tuesday was the first for the Red Devils over Webster since beating the Gorloks, 55-44, on Jan. 19, 2008 at the Reagan Center.  The Red Devils will go for their fourth straight road victory this Saturday at Fontbonne.  Tip-off against the Griffins is scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
