Ravens Drop Third Straight Since Break

More news about: Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. - Tonight's game featuring the Rosemont College women's basketball team (6-7, 1-5 CSAC) vs. the CSAC-rival Neumann University Knights (5-8, 4-1 CSAC) seemed eerily similar to the Raven's last encounter on the floor of Alumnae Hall. The Ravens again suffered a late first-half lapse turning an 11-point deficit into a 26-point deficit within a period of 4:03 late in the first half. Trailing by 24 points at halftime, 45-21, the Ravens tried a comeback but ultimately did not have the ammunition to threaten the visiting Knights.

Neumann opened up the second half with an 11-point run, putting the Ravens in arrears by 33 points with 18:17 remaining in the game (54-21) , Rosemont did scratch together a gritty comeback, outscoring the Knights 32-10 to get to within 11 points at 64-53, but Neumann was able to pull away down the stretch to ultimately win the game by a final score of 76-58.

The Ravens did cut down on their turnovers significantly since their last game, but still turned over the ball ten more times (22-12) than the Knights. Rosemont's first-half shooting buried the home team's chances, as Rosemont shot only 32% from the field compared to 53% for Neumann in the first half. The Ravens were also unsuccessful from downtown, shooting only 1-for-13 (8%) from beyond the arc for the game.

The Ravens placed three players in double-figures. Ashley Montecchio (Jr./Sun Valley/Aston, PA) turned in 10 points plus 10 rebounds to earn her sixth double-double of the season. Liz Coyne (Fr./Downingtown West/West Chester, Pa.) led both teams in scoring with 17 points and just missed a double-double with nine caroms. Dominique Sellers continued showing good spark off of the Raven's bench scoring 14 points.

Five different Knights scored in double-figures led by Sami Borcky (16). Adding to the visitor's tally were Cecily Scavicchio (13), Erica Marvel (12), Laura Scott (10) and Bethany Humenik (10).

The Ravens will try to snap their three-game losing streak since resuming play in 2012 against the Cabrini Cavaliers on Wednesday, 1/11. The CSAC game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00pm.
