No. 5/6 William Paterson Women’s Basketball Eases Past Stockton, 88-69

WAYNE, N.J. – Four Pioneers were in double figures in scoring as the No. 5/6 William Paterson women's basketball team (14-0, 4-0 NJAC) eased past visiting Richard Stockton (8-3, 1-2 NJAC) for an 88-69 wire-to-wire victory Jan. 7. 

 

Senior all-American guard BriAnna Lucas (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) was 8-for-12 (.667) from the floor for 23 points, adding eight rebounds, three assists and six steals.  Senior all-American forward April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) had her 10th double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds, making six of eight (.750) field goals.  Sophomore guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) had 11 tallies and six assists, while sophomore forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) posted 10 points and seven boards.

 

The Pioneers scored 16 of the game's first 20 points, and steadily built a 43-27 lead by halftime.  That advantage expanded to as many as 29 (65-36, 12:30) during the second period as WP turned 25 Osprey turnovers into 31 points while out-scoring Stockton 26-6 on the fast break.

 

Junior Aspen Price-Perry led Richard Stockton with 20 points, nine of those coming at the free-throw line, and senior LaTonya Oliver contributed 10 tallies and 11 rebounds.

 

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 8:00 p.m.
