HOLYOKE, Mass. – Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) scored a game-high 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting and added a game-best 13 rebounds to help lift the Blazers to a convincing 75-53 victory over Bay Path College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball game at the Holyoke Community College Brantley Center.

With the win, Elms improves to 6-4 overall, 3-0 in NECC play, while Bay Path moves to 1-5 on the season, 1-1 in league action.

Leading 19-15 with 9:03 to play in the first period, Elms' senior forward Erika Murphy (Torrington, Conn.) hit a mid-range jumper to spark a 21-0 run over the next 5:14 to extend the Blazers' advantage to 40-15.

Je'Quana Orr (East Hartford, Conn.) halted the dry spell for Bay Path with a jumper at the 2:29 mark and less than one minute later swished a three as the Wildcats scored nine of the final 11 points of the first stanza to set the score at 42-24 in favor of Elms at intermission.

The Blazers capitalized on another scoreless stretch by Bay Path increasing their lead to 29 points at 53-24. The Wildcats were held scoreless until the 13:57 mark when Toni Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) hit a jump shot to score Bay Path's first points of the second half.

Elms maintained a sizeable lead for the remainder of the contest leading by at least 20 points until the 1:35 mark when Toni Alexander hit a three-pointer to set the score at 71-53.

Blazers' sophomore guard Ellen Donohue (Southington, Conn.) capped the scoring with a pair of free throws and a layup to give Elms a 22-point, 75-53 victory.

Elms' junior guard Jennifer Normandie (Westford, Mass.) scored 15 points off the bench hitting on 7 of 8 shots from the floor in 12 minutes of action, while Murphy collected 10 points and hauled in nine rebounds.

Blazers' senior guard Carolyn Talmadge (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomore guard Emily Boucher (Ashburnham, Mass.) directed Elms' offensive outburst dishing out four assists each as the Blazers were able to convert shots at a 43.5 clip for the contest.

Brittney Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) led the Wildcats with 17 points, while Toni Alexander hit four treys and finished with 14 points off the bench in the losing effort.

Orr added 10 points, while Brittney Alexander and Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded a team-best 10 rebounds each.

Elms returns to NECC action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 when it hosts Becker College at 8:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
