(GREENVILLE, Pa.) - Sophomore guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) and sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) both scored 13 points to lead the Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 69-47 win over Thiel College tonight (Wednesday, January 4, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Beeghly Gymnasium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 2-10 overall and 2-3 in the PAC.

Thomas More raced out to an early 6-0 lead with 17:10 to play in the opening half when freshman forward Kelli Dixon (Walton, Ky./Walton-Verona) made a lay-up.  Thiel answered with a 5-0 run capped by an Ashley Davis jumper with 14:52 to play in the half to cut the lead to 6-5.  The Saints closed out the half on a 31-9 run to take a 37-14 lead at halftime when junior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a three-pointer with two-seconds to play in the first half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 20-14 run to extend the lead to 57-28 with 9:45 to play in the game when Dixon converted an old fashion three-point play.  The Tomcats answered with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 57-36 when Davis made a lay-up with 7:49 to play in the game.  Thomas More responded with a 9-3 lead to extend the lead to 66-39 with 4:15 to play in the game when Kitchen made a three-pointer.  Thiel closed out the game on an 8-3 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More went on to the 69-47 victory.

Joining Kitchen and Corey in double-figure scoring was Dixon with 11 points and freshman forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 10 points.  Burgoyne led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while Kitchen led the team in steals with four and sophomore guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with six.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 7) when it hosts Westminster College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
