MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin improved to 7-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference with a hard-fought 75-68 win over Marian University on Wednesday night in the R. John Buuck Field House.

CUW pulled away after leading only 61-60 with six minutes remaining. Junior Brittany Zietlow's (Oak Creek, Wis.) layup made it 63-60 and began an eight-point run that gave CUW breathing room down the stretch.

The Falcons were only 5-of-8 from the free throw line from that point on, but MU hit only one of their final six shots from the floor.

It appeared early on that CUW had established control as the Falcons broke to a 27-16 lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half. At that point, both senior Kendall Kerns (Stoughton, Wis.)  and sophomore Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) picked up their second fouls and CUW suffered inside defensively as they were forced to the bench. The result was that the margin was cut to 36-32 CUW at the half.
