AMHERST, MA - As a competitor there is often a desire to test oneself against the best.

The Lehman  women's basketball team got that chance on Sunday afternoon as it traveled to Massachusetts to take on the nation's top Division III team, Amherst College, and found that it has quite a way to go before it can step up to that next level as the Lord Jeffs dominated the Lightning in winning 88-33.

Amherst received a double-double from Megan Robertson (12 points, 10 rebounds) as well as double-digit scoring games from Lem Atanga McCormick (14 points), Bridget Crowley (13 points), and Shannon Finucane (10 points).

Lehman was led by Leslie Mencia's 14 points.  Senior Amanda De La Cruz chipped in 13 points before fouling out.

For the game the Lightning was outrebounded by the Lord Jeffs 53-41 and turned the ball over 28 times compared to just 13 for Amherst.

The visitors from the Bronx actually managed to keep the game close for the opening portion of the first half, trailing by just six points with 13:51 remaining.  However the Lord Jeffs ended the half on a 27-9 run to put the game away.

Next up for Lehman will be Mount Saint Mary College on December 10.  The game is part of Lehman's annual Coaches vs. Cancer event and will be played at New Roc City in New Rochelle beginning at 4 p.m.
