More news about: Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's basketball team fell to Albion College in non-conference action, 78-58, on Saturday. Leading the way for the Lady Jackets was sophomore Erica King with 14 points.

The Britons took the early momentum with a 16-6 run over the first five minutes of the game behind eight points from Brett deBear. The Lady Jackets struggled to find a groove offensively, as Albion went into the locker rooms with a 38-21 advantage.

After the break, the Purple and Gold came out determined to get back into the game. The Jackets cut the Briton lead to eight points, 43-35, with 14:26 remaining after hitting four three pointers to open the half. Junior guard Rachel Ciminillo connected on a long-range shot at the start of the half, and King buried three straight shots from behind the arc. Albion answered with an 8-0 run, which effectively ended the comeback.

Despite only cutting the lead to eight points, Defiance connected on 55.6% of their shots from the floor in second half and hit seven-of-11 shots from distance.

Albion was led by 20 points and four assists from Nicole Dennis.
