Brooklyn, NY- The Lady Cougars fell to the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels in the 13th Annual Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament held on Saturday Dec. 3, 2011. The Blue Angels won 55-45. CNR improved to 4-3 while the Lady Cougars fell to 0-7.

The 1st half featured 4 lead changes and a tie. Early on, MEC took the lead twice. First was a layup from Chantal Biscette then a pair of free throws. After CNR scored with 12:22 left in the half, MEC never came back. The Lady Cougars only scored 12pts in the half but kept CNR close only down 10pts at the half. CNR shot 22.6% from the field, 14.3% from behind the arc, and 58.3% from the free throw line. MEC shot 12.9% from the field and 80% from the free throw line (4-5). MEC was led by Chantal Biscette. The Senior Forward scored 11pts and 10 rebounds. CNR was led by Alyssa Pechin with 7pts.

In the 2nd half, CNR pulled out to a 16pt lead, before MEC made a comeback. They would cut the lead to 10pts and that would be the final deficit. It was a game of 2 similiar playing style teams. MEC shot 21.6% from the field, 12.5% from behind the arc, and 61.5% from the free throw line. CNR shot 37.9% from the field and 91.7% from the free throw line (11-12). MEC was led by Tiffany Woodbine. Wooodbine scored 14pts to go along wih 5 steals. Chantal Biscette added 11pts. CNR was led by Holly Cammarota, who tallied 10pts.

For the game, MEC was led by Chantal Biscette. Biscette scored a game high 22pts. She grabbed 18 rebounds, to go along with 2 blocks and 4 steals. Tiffany Woodbine added 14pts, grabbed 4 rebounds, and accumulated 5 steals. CNR was led by Alyssa Pechin. Pechin scored 16pts and Holly Cammarota added 14pts.

In the game 2 of the night, Berkeley College (NY) Knights played the Yeshiva Maccabees. The Knights won 80-51. Taisha Sherman led the game with 23pts to go along with 5 steals. Rachel Thomas added 21pts and Savasia Caraballo scored 13pts. Yeshiva was led from Rebecca Yoshor. Yoshor scored 21pts and grabbed a game high 17 rebounds. Daniella Litwin added 16pts.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Sunday Dec. 4, 2011 when they play the Yeshiva Maccabees in the Consolation Game at the 13th Annual Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament held at MEC. Tip off is at 2pm. Berkeley (NY) will play CNR for the Championship. That game will take place roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 1st game.
