Royals Leads Trinity Women's Basketball To Overtime Win At Rivier

Nashua, N.H. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams posted a 68-55 win over the Rivier College Raiders, outscoring the home team, 14-1, in overtime, in women's basketball action this evening at Muldoon Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 4-4, while the Raiders fall to 5-3 with their first loss in three games. Senior tri-captain guard Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.) led the way for Trinity with 22 points, while sophomore forward Taylor Murtaugh (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and, a game-high,19 rebounds, and senior tri-captain guard Katilin Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) was the third Bantam in double digits in scoring with 10 points. In a back-and-forth battle that saw the two teams combine for 10 lead changes in the first half, a trey by Bantam sophomore guard Abigail Hancock (Lake Casco, Maine) gave Trinity a 29-25 halftime edge. With about 7 minutes left in regulation, the Bantams held a 10-point advantage before the Raiders came back led by freshman Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.), who scored a game high 24 points. Rivier found themselves on a 10-2 run before sophomore Ryan Baker (Whitinsville, Mass.) knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game at 50. The Raiders took a two-point lead inside the final 20 seconds but Ciarleglio nailed a jumper and the last second shot by Rivier fell just short to force overtime. box score
