UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The No. 20 ranked Mount Union women's basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season as they never trailed in a 69-55 Ohio Athletic Conference win Wednesday at John Carroll.
The Purple Raiders (6-1, 1-1 OAC) got game-high 18 points from junior point guard Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) while seniors Amanda Rose(Green/Green) and Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) each came off the bench with 17 and 11 respectively.
Coming off the loss head coach Suzy Venet shook up her starting lineup and in coming off the bench Rose shot 7-of-10 from the floor with six rebounds while Wiedt nailed three three-pointers and had had five rebounds.
Emily Ritchie had 15 points as one of three in double figures for John Carroll (3-4, 0-2 OAC).
Mount Union quickly jumped out to a six-point lead, 11-5, in the game's opening five minutes and extended it to seven twice with the final time at the half as LaMattina hit a three pointer to make it 37-30 at the break.
The Raiders put the game away with a 10-1 run to start the second half with Rose scoring five points and her jumper with 16:22 to go made the score 47-31.
Mount Union returns home to host Capital Saturday at 4 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
