Lady Mavs Fall Victim to Hot Shooting Lions in AMCC Opener

More news about: Medaille

ERIE, PA - The Medaille College women's basketball team couldn't overcome a (72.0%) second half shooting performance from Penn State-Behrend, as they succumbed to the Lions (69-57) in their AMCC opener on the road this evening.

The Lady Mavs carried a five point edge into the halftime break but were unable to hold the home team in check in the second half as the Lions erupted for (43) points in the games final twenty minutes.  The Lady Mavs limited their own turnovers in the game but only shot (33.8%) from the floor on the evening, which hindered their chances of winning.

Three Lady Mavs reached double figures in the scoring column and Joelle Pollak led the way as she notched a team high (18) points on (7 of 16) shooting from the field.  She knocked down a game high three shots from behind the arc while also leading her team in rebounds with (8), assists with (3) and steals with (3) as well.

The other two key contributors for Medaille were Brittney Rowland who finished with (14) points and Tanisha Travis who ended the night with (10) points and (5) boards.

The loss is the third straight for Medaille and it drops them to (1-3) overall and (0-1) in AMCC play.  They will look to get back in the win column when they head to Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday (10/3) for a 3:00pm tip-off against the Bobcats in another conference affair.
