Rams Fall to St. Vincent in Non-Conference Game

Grantham, Penn - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell, 63-47, to 24th ranked St. Vincent College in the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic hosted by Messiah College. The Rams now stand at 0-2, while the Bearcats improved to 1-0.

Farmingdale State trailed 11-9, before a 13-3 St. Vincent run increased the Bearcats' lead to 24-12 with 8:50 remaining in the half. The Rams cut the deficit to 27-17 with 5:00 to play, but a St. Vincent 3-pointer and layup increased the lead to 32-17. Farmingdale State went into halftime trailing 39-25. The Bearcats shot 50% from the field in the first half.

Leading 44-34 with 14:13 to play, a 14-3 run over the next 7:13 by St. Vincent increased the advantage to 21 en route to a 63-47 victory. The Rams shot just 26% from the floor in the loss.

Farmingdale State was led by senior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 14 points. Senior forward Natasha Smalls (Harlem, N.Y.) had nine rebounds and scored eight points, all of which came from the free-throw line.

Senior forward Brittany Sedlock (Northern Cambria, Penn.) led all scorers with 16 points and recorded 11 rebounds for the Bearcats.

Farmingdale State will face John Jay (0-1) in the consolation game tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
