York, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball campaign to an end Tuesday night in first round action of the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament as host York (Pa.) College posted a 74-61 victory to advance to Thursday's semifinal action.

The sixth-seeded Seahawks finished the 2010-11 campaign with an 11-14 overall (7-9 CAC) record, breaking the 10-win mark for the first time in three seasons.

Senior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie), who led St. Mary's tonight with 11 points and three assists, ends her solid four-year career with 811 points, 323 rebounds, 146 assists,  and 106 steals in 99 games played (57 starts).

Though St. Mary's was 3-for-11 from the three-point line, those three long-range goals came at critical points in the first half and helped the Seahawks to stay within reach of York.  Sophomore guard Pui Sham's (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) three-point field goal at 13:28 cut the Spartan lead to two while sophomore guard Jasmine Jones' (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) bomb at 8:19 trimmed the fat to three after York had stretched its lead to seven.

Sham, who finished the night with 10 points and a block, connected on her second three-point field goal of the night at 3:12 to once again to pull the Seahawks within three after York grew its lead to eight with 5:26 left in the half.  The Spartans closed out the half on a 4-1 spurt to take a 33-27 advantage at the break.

First-year forward Shana Lewis (Bowie, Md./Bowie) hauled in a team-best seven boards as the Seahawks came away with a +2 rebounding margin.

Third-seeded York (14-12) shot 51.7 percent from the field in the second half to the Seahawks' 32.4 percent, holding a double-digit lead for the final 12:57 of the game.  St. Mary's outscored the Spartans, 13-6, to make the final, 74-61.

Four of five Spartan starters scored in double figures.  First-year guard Kelsey Murphy (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) paced all scorers with 19 points while forwards Jaimie Sapp (Bluemont, Va./Loudoun Valley), Kristen Haley (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Visitation), and Brittany Hicks (Dover, Pa./York Catholic) all chipped 12 points apiece.
