ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Katie Crider (Brunswick/Brunswick) scored a season-high 18 points, leading Mount Union's nationally ranked women's basketball team to a 70-52 victory over Otterbein in Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal action on Tuesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) added 14 points and six assists while Taylor Hartung (Canton/Massillon Perry) chipped in 11 points. Amanda Rose (Uniontown/Green) grabbed seven rebounds.

The top-seeded Purple Raiders (23-3) will host their next OAC Tournament game when five-seed Capital (16-9) visits for a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Thursday. The Crusaders defeated Wilmington, 81-75, in their Tuesday quarterfinal.

Down 25-22 at intermission, the Cardinals came out tough in the second half. They scored the first five points of the period and took a 27-25 lead on a Hannah Day 3-pointer.

Matching 4-0 runs put the score at 31-29 before Day engaged in a 3-point duel with the Raiders.

LaMattina buried a trey, which Day answered. Then, Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) nailed a 3; Day answered again.

Rachel Snedegar followed with a layup, helping the Cardinals to a 39-35 lead with 14:29 remaining.

From that moment, the Raiders exploded for 10 consecutive points -- including five by Hartung -- and ended up outscoring their visitors, 35-13, the rest of the way. Crider and Hartung had nine and eight points, respectively, during that stretch.

Kristi Kotterman was Otterbein's top performer with 15 points and seven rebounds. Day added 14 points and Brooke Robbins grabbed seven rebounds.

Early on, Mount Union took a 7-0 lead -- a 3-pointer by Hartung and four points from LaMattina -- but then struggled to a 25-percent field goal shooting performance (8 of 32) in the first half. The Raiders recovered with a 61.5-percent effort in the second period (16 of 26).

The Raiders, who are ranked 14th by ESPN/USA Today and 18th by D3Hoops.com, were one of two host teams to win a OAC Women's Tournament game on Tuesday.

The other was third-seed Ohio Northern (17-9), which defeated sixth-seeded Muskingum, 75-68. The Polar Bears will host the No. 7 seed, John Carroll (15-11), which won at two-seed Baldwin-Wallace, 74-60.
