SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's basketball has spent the better part of the season searching for consistent offense. They may have found it right before the most important time of the year: the postseason. The Eagles turned in their best shooting performance of the season in defeating Lakeland College 63-60 in the final regular season NAC game for both teams.

Edgewood College (14-10, 12-6 NAC) scored 11 of the first 13 points of the game and never looked back. Shae Beckwith and Danielle Dixon scored field goals, which were followed by five straight points, including a three-point basket, by Melanie Walker. A Beckwith three-pointer and another jump shot by Dixon gave the Eagles their largest lead of the first half at 28-15 with 4:13 to go. Lakeland College (9-15, 6-12 NAC) scored the final two buckets of the half and the Eagles settled for a 33-25 lead at the break. Edgewood College shot 50 percent (13-for-26) and hit five three-point baskets in the first 20 minutes.

Halftime didn't cool off the Eagles. Edgewood College made their first four shots of the half and opened up their largest lead of the game at 42-27. Lakeland College wasn't about to go down easily on their Senior Night, however. Beckwith scored a basket with 6:23 remaining to give the Eagles a 60-51 lead, but that would be Edgewood College's last field goal of the game. The Muskies cut the Eagles' lead to three points on three separate occasions, but could not keep Edgewood College from their 12th NAC victory of the season.

Beckwith, Edgewood College's all-time leader in three-point field goals, made three three-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points. Walker went 7-for-9 from the field, and established a new career-high with 16 points. Brittany Bylsma finished with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Sadie Ewing matched her career-high with six assists. For the game, Edgewood College shot 47.1 percent (24-for-51), their highest percentage of the season and best since they shot 50 percent against Marian University on December 2, 2009, a span of 45 games.

Lakeland College had just one player in double figures, Becky Mayo, who scored 10 points off the bench. Mary Dennewitz had nine points and a team-high six assists. Lakeland took 23 more shots from the field than the Eagles and committed just eight turnovers, but could not overcome 32.4 percent shooting and a 46-37 rebounding deficit.

Edgewood College will host Rockford College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Northern Athletics Conference Challenge game. The Eagles are locked into the fifth seed for the NAC Tournament which begins next Tuesday. The Eagles will travel to fourth-seeded Benedictine University for a quarterfinal game. The same two teams met in the same location for last year's first round NAC Tournament game won by Benedictine 52-49.
