Sisco, Devils Rebound to Top Diplomats 55-48

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team overcame a slow start to post a 55-48 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night. Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) turned in an outstanding performance with 14 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.

 

Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held a 15-9 advantage midway through the first half. The Red Devils answered with a 9-2 run to take their only lead of the half, 18-17, at the 4:21 mark. Beth Holt knocked down a three-pointer to put the Diplomats back on top. F&M went into halftime with a 27-26 lead.

 

After the break, the teams played over three minutes before F&M broke the scoring drought. They stretched the margin to five, holding a 33-28 advantage at the 14:49 mark. A 13-2 run by the Devils gave the hosts a 41-35 lead with 7:14 remaining in the game.

 

F&M would cut the lead to 42-41 at the 3:56 mark, but the Red Devils never relinquished the lead after pulling in front on an Annie O'Donnell (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) lay-up with 11:14 to play.

 

The Red Devils hit 8-of-9 free throws in the final 2:29 to secure the win. Sisco drained 5-of-6 from the stripe in the final 1:13. She finished 8-of-9 on the night, adding a pair of steals as well.

 

Taylor Miller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) tallied nine points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Senior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) added six points and six rebounds. Sophomores Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) each chipped in with eight points on the night.

 

Megan Pauley led the Diplomats (9-7, 7-4 CC) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Alison Menna recorded 12 rebounds.

 

The Red Devils improve to 8-8 overall and 5-6 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Johns Hopkins at 2:00 pm.
