Women's Basketball Win Streak Ends, Falls Against Baptist Bible College, 57-52

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team had its season-best four-game win streak snapped on Monday night, falling 57-52 against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Baptist Bible College at Nerney Field House. Prior to the game's opening tip, senior guard Julie Bonomo was honored for her hard work and dedication to the Cavaliers over the last four seasons.

For the 11th time this season, freshman guard Brittany Sandone led Cabrini in scoring, tallying 14 points. Sandone shot 4-for-9 overall and 3-for-7 from beyond the 3-point stripe.

Sandone played in first game since Feb. 7 at Gwynedd-Mercy College, missing the last two due to an illness.

Freshman forward Annie Rivituso recorded her second double-double in as many games, pairing 12 points with 10 rebounds. Freshman guard MaryKate McCann scored eight points and gathered nine rebounds in 30 minutes played off the bench.

Freshman forward Colleen Stewart added eight boards.

The Blue & White trailed by as much as 12 points, 49-37, in the second half before a 12-0 run gave the hosts a second wind. Sandone canned two 3-point field goals during the rally.

Tied at 49-49 with 5:26 remaining after two free throws from Rivituso, Baptist Bible closed the contest on an 8-3 run en route to the victory. The win pulls the Defenders even with the Cavaliers for the sixth and final playoff spot in the CSAC Tournament with one game remaining in the regular season.

Cabrini shot 42.3 percent from the floor in the first half, but struggled to find an offensive rhythm down the stretch, shooting just 28.6 percent in the final 20 minutes. The Cavaliers also did not help themselves at the foul line, converting only 9-of-17 tries.

Freshman forward Kacee Rava led the Defenders' to victory with a double-double, recording 18 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman guard Ruth Butts totaled 16 points for BBC.

Baptist Bible (14-10, 9-6) converted 19 Cabrini turnovers into 22 points. The Cavaliers out-scored the Defenders in bench points, 16-4.

The loss ends the Blue & White's four-game win streak, a ride that dates back to a decisive 80-61 victory against Immaculata University on Feb. 3.

Cabrini (10-14, 9-6 CSAC) concludes its regular season schedule on the road against CSAC foe Neumann University on Thursday, Feb. 17. Game time against the Knights is set for 6 p.m.
