Dolphins Snap Skid Behind Delva’s Career-High

Annandale-On-Hudson, N.Y. – Behind a career-high 13 points from freshman Amy Delva (Nanuet, N.Y.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team snapped an eight game losing streak with an impressive 68-37 road win at Bard. The Dolphins placed three scorers in double-figures on the night and shot a season-high 42.6-percent from the field.

Mount Saint Vincent led wire-to-wire on Thursday night and jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first 6:45 of the contest. After opening the double-figure lead early on, the Mount did not let Bard any closer then eight points the rest of the evening. The Dolphins' lead grew to as many as 20 points twice before halftime, including with five ticks left before the break after a pair of Delva free-throws.

The Mount shot better then 45-percent from the floor in the first period and also knocked down eight of their 10 free-throws. Delva led the Dolphins in the scoring column at the break with 10 points, while Latiqua Williams led the Raptors and all scorers in the first period with 12 points.

Mount Saint Vincent opened the second half with a 9-0 run to open a 29 point lead and had its advantage in the second half balloon to 31 points with just over 12 minutes left in regulation. The Dolphins had eight players enter the scoring column after halftime, with Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) leading the way with seven points.

After shooting under 40-percent for 14 straight games coming into Thursday, the Dolphins converted 26-for-61 from the floor in the game for their season-high field goal percentage. The Dolphins also went 3-for-7 from behind the arc and shot 72.2-percent from the free-throw line.

Delva finished the night 4-for-9 from the field overall and 5-for-8 from the charity stripe and also secured six rebounds. Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y.) joined Delva with 13 points after going 5-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the stripe. Kluth matched a career-high with nine steals and led the Mount with four assists.

McNish continued her steady play for Mount Saint Vincent against Bard after posting 11 points and a team-high 17 rebounds. McNish finished the night 5-for-13 from the field and has now posted double-figures in both points in rebounds in three of the team's last four games.

Bard was paced by a double-double from Williams after she tallied 16 points and pulled down a game-high 22 boards. Keila Brown scored 12 points for the Raptors and Victoria Fleisher led all players with five assists.

Mount Saint Vincent forced 25 Bard turnovers in the game and turned those into 28 points. The Dolphins also held a commanding lead inside with 34 points in the paint and the Dolphins finished with six fast break points while not allowing any.

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 7-15 and its Skyline Conference mark to 5-11. The Dolphins will look to build off of Thursday's victory when they travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is set for 3:00 p.m.
