ST. LOUIS, MO – Junior forward Erin Hollinger (Chardon, OH/Chardon) and senior forward Caitlin Henry (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) both scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team dropped its third straight University Athletic Association game, 80-58, on Sunday, January 30 against #8/9 Washington University (MO).

Hollinger poured in 19 to lead the Spartans, while Henry added 17 to supplement the scoring. Sophomore guard Erica Iafelice (North Canton, OH/Canton Hoover) also had a balanced game, recording seven points and grabbing seven rebounds as Case dropped to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the UAA.

The Bears improved to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in the UAA as three players reached double-figures. Kathryn Berger scored a game-high 21 points to lead Wash U.

Case kept the contest tight early, tying the score eight different times, and drew even with the Bears at the 7:01 mark when junior forward Chelsea Peck (Mt. Lebanon, PA/Oakland Catholic) scored on a lay-in to make the score 23-23. Shortly thereafter, the Bears took off on a 13-2 run, spanning 3:02, and worked their lead all the way to 13, at 36-23. The Spartans got the deficit back to single digits twice, but trailed 44-31 heading into the locker room.

Coming out of the break, Hollinger hit a jumper to pull Case within 11, at 44-33, but it would get no closer as the Bears pulled out to a then game-high lead of 20 at the 14:59 mark before coasting the rest of the way.

The Spartans will be back in action at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, hosting the University of Chicago (IL) as they kick off Throwback Weekend in Horsburgh Gymnasium. Case will also get another shot at Washington on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2:00 p.m.

As part of Throwback Weekend festivities, the Spartans will wear uniforms to honor Mather College.
