NEWTON, Mass. – The Norwich women's basketball team traveled to  Lasell College's Athletic Center on Thursday to play in the GNAC doubleheader against the Lasers. The Cadets came out on top in the battle, 56-44, to progress to a 6-1 record in the conference.

Senior Karissa Doyon was back to her shooting self last night, putting up the team-high 18 points, which included two 3-pointers. Classmate Christine Daniels cashed in on her 19th double-double of the season, netting 13 points and 10 boards, as her co-captain, senior Laurel McWilliams, nabbed the team-high 11 rebounds.

Norwich (14-5, 6-1 GNAC) held a five-point advantage going into the half, with a lead of 29-24. Doyon put in a layup four minutes into action to push the Cadets ahead of Lasell (1-18, 0-7 GNAC). While the lead changed from each team on three occasions, it was freshman Kristin Brown who sank a 3-pointer with six minutes remaining to give Norwich the edge.

The Cadets held their ground for the duration of the second half. The Lasers pulled within eight points, but were unable to gain enough momentum to overcome their opponents. Norwich had 20 points on Lasell with four minutes remaining on the clock and finished the contest 12 ahead.

The Cadets are back in action again on Saturday in a GNAC twinbill, as they will host Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 1 p.m. in Andrews Hall, followed by the Norwich men against the Monks at 3 p.m.
