RYAN NETS CAREER HIGH 34 POINTS IN 73-46 WIN OVER JOHN JAY

New York, NY: Alexa Ryan tallied a career high 34 points as the Ramapo College women's basketball team defeated John Jay College, 73-46 in a non-conference road game. The Roadrunners improve to 12-8 overall while the Bloodhounds fall to 9-11.

Ryan was 13-23 from the field and made four shots from behind the three-point line. She also was 4-5 from the foul line and grabbed eight rebounds and tallied six assists and three steals in 31 minutes of play. Brittany Howes tallied a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Alayna Donadio and Faith Flannery each chipped in eight points. Donadio added four assists while Flannery recorded six assists and five steals.

Howes put the Roadrunners on the board with a jump shot at 19:28 and again at 18:43 to go up 4-0 and never looked back, she was assisted by Danielle Beam and Ryan respectively. Ramapo went on a 15-2 run capped off by Ryan's three-pointer with 12:20 to go in the half before John Jay's Jessica Lirio hit a lay up with 10:43 on the clock putting Ramapo in the lead, 19-5.

The Roadrunners' biggest lead of the half (26-7) came with 6:47 to go on a Howes made basket. The Bloodhounds out scored Ramapo, 12-11 in the final six minutes of play to end the half down, 37-19, as Donadio tallied the final basket of the with 29 seconds to go on pass from Ryan. Ramapo shot 50% from the field and 40% from behind the three point line in the first half.

In the second half, the Roadrunners jumped out to a 21 point lead on a made basket by Samantha Maggio, she was assisted by Flannery with 14:10 to go in the game putting Ramapo in the lead, 45-24. They took their second 24 point lead of the game with 8:58 to go as Ryan made a lay up, 57-33 before the Bloodhounds made three straight baskets to come within 18 points, 57-39. Ramapo took their biggest lead of the game in the final minutes as Lindsey Jachens made two foul shots to go up, 73-46 with 54 seconds remaining. In the game, Ramapo shot 45% from the field (31-68) and 87% from the foul line (7-8). Ramapo also out rebounded John Jay 52-26 and tallied 14 steals and pressured the Bloodhounds into 24 turnovers.

The Roadrunners return to action this Saturday at 5:00 PM when they host NJAC rival Montclair State University. Ramapo will be collecting donations for the WBCA Pink Zone/Kay Yow Cancer Fund along with the second Coaches Challenge and Dorm Challenge game of the semester.
