Seahawks Down Blazer Women, 72-58

FREDERICK, Md.— The Hood College women's basketball team (7-11, 2-9 CAC) fell to visiting Capital Athletic Conference rival St. Mary's College (Md.) (10-9, 6-5 CAC), 72-58, at Frederick Community College Monday evening.

St. Mary's offense started out strong with an eight-point lead in the first two minutes of play. Hood chipped away at the lead but found themselves in a 16-point deficit with only four minutes remaining in the half. Hood's offense lit up and went on an 11-1 run to finish the half down 33-27.

First-year Briana White evened the score at 36 four minutes into the second half with her first three-pointer of the game. Both teams traded the lead until senior Allyson Lethbridge drained back-to-back triples to give the Blazers their first lead, 49-46, mid-way through the second half.

Hood could not contain St. Mary's, as they outscored the Blazers 26-9 the rest of the way.
White and Lethbridge, who both tallied 18 points, led the Blazers while sophomore Dyanna Prater contributed 11 points and eight assists.
Hood travels to Frostburg State University for another conference matchup Wednesday at 6 p.m.
