First Half Rally Propels Diplomats

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall used a 16-4 scoring run in the first half, which erased a 12-point deficit, that helped lift the Diplomats to a 64-57 win over Haverford in a Centennial Conference (CC) game Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 9-5 CC, 11-8 overall while the Fords fell to 5-9, 8-11.

Haverford scored the first six points of the game and would lead, 21-9, with 8:42 left in the first half. F&M responded with a 16-4 run to tie the game at 25-25 with 4:36 left. Five players scored points in the run for the Diplomats with Beth Holt, Elizabeth Snyder and Alexa Barbush netting three each. The Fords closed out the first half with a 7-2 run to lead 32-29.

The first 10 minutes of the second half featured three ties which was aided by F&M's six unanswered points to begin the half. The last tie was 37-37 before the Diplomats went up for good on two layups by Pauley and a free throw from Allison Bauer. F&M iced the game going 14-of-16 from the line in the final two minutes.

Barbush led all scorers with 19 points and added for four steals for F&M. Holt scored 15 points and dished out six assists and Pauley added 11 points with five rebounds. Alison Menna pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Dominique Meeks recorded a double-double for Haverford with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Nina Voith netted a team-high 15 points for the Fords and Cara Wyant chipped in with 14.
Franklin & Marshall return to the Mayser Center Monday in a Centennial Conference game against Washington at 7 p.m.
