READING, Pa. –
With a 54 percent effort from the field in the second half, the Lycoming College women's basketball team pulled away from Albright College, posting a 62-51 win for its fourth straight against the Lions, on Saturday, Jan. 29, in Commonwealth Conference at the Bollman Center.

Senior Kaitlyn Ober (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) once again proved she is one of the best posts in the Commonwealth Conference, as she posted 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal to lead the Warriors (8-11 overall, 3-5 Commonwealth) to their first win of more than two points against the Lions in the last two seasons.

Sophomore Rachael Scheller added 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals from the point and freshman Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.

With a 24-21halftime lead, the Warriors played stellar on both sides of the floor in the second half, shooting 54 percent (13-for-24), holding the Lions to 38 percent (9-for-24) and keeping them silent from 3-point range in six attempts while hitting three themselves. The Warriors also took advantage of its inside game, posting a 16-8 advantage in the paint, led by 15 points from Ober, and adding a 10-5 advantage off turnovers.

After a bucket from Albright (6-11 overall, 2-6 Commonwealth) made the score 26-23 early in the second half, the Warriors went on a 19-5 run over the next eight minutes to take a 45-28 lead with 10:12 left. Scheller led the run with nine points and Ober added six.

From there, the Warriors let the Lions back within eight points just three times, with the last coming with 2:07 remaining before a bucket from junior Erin Connaghan (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) gave the Warriors a 60-50 lead. From there, the Warriors hit two free throws in the last 63 seconds and the Lions hit one to close out the game.

The Lions took an early 4-0 lead before the Warriors scored the next seven points, with layups from Connaghan and Scheller giving the Warriors the lead for good with 14:11 left. The Lions cut the lead to a point two more times, with a layup from Jenny Knoebel making it 16-15 with 3:46 left, but a trey from sophomore Leeann Randall (Audobon, Pa./Methacton) answered the threat and a layup from Connaghan with 1:39 left gave the Warriors a 24-19 lead before a pair of free throws by Albright helped cut the lead to three at halftime.

Connaghan finished with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals and both Randall and junior Chelsea Shearer (East York, Pa./Dallastown) hit a 3-pointer for the Warriors.

Rory Yerkes posted 12 points, four steals, three assists and three rebounds to lead the Lions and Jessica McGinness posted 10 points and two assists. Meghan Boyle notched six points and 11 rebounds and MariLynn McMonagle added six points and six rebounds.

The Warriors come home for a three-game homestand where they will face Commonwealth Conference opponents Lebanon Valley, Arcadia and Elizabethtown, beginning with the Flying Dutchmen entering Lamade Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.
