OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball seniors Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) and JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) each totaled 12 points to lead four players in double figures, but a 10-3 run by Frostburg State to end the first half proved to be the difference as the Bobcats posted a 65-57 victory Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

The Mustangs (1-17, 0-10 CAC)  trailed by only one, 26-25 with 2:28 remaining in the first half following a jumper by freshman Alissa Chambliss (Hanover/Meade), but Frostburg State scored 10 of the final 13 points, including six consecutive by Stephanie Straka to take a 36-28 halftime lead.

Despite being outrebounded 22-13, nine different Bobcats scored in the opening half, led by Straka's eight points, as they were 14-of-28 from the floor for 50.0 percent compared to just 35.3 percent for Stevenson.

Conley and Chambliss combined for 16 of the Mustangs' 28 first-half points with Conley hitting on three of her five three-point attempts.

Stevenson managed to cut the deficit to two on a layup by Steiner with 5:51 left, but the Bobcats responded with a 9-0 run to take their largest lead of the game at 11, 60-49 with 3:31 to play.

Steiner, who totaled eight of her 12 points in the second half, also led the Mustangs with 13 rebounds and four assists. Conley finished the game 4-for-8 from behind the arc while adding five rebounds, one short of her career-high.

For the first time this season, Stevenson had four players in double figure scoring as sophomore Sam Murray (Reisterstown/St. Paul's) and junior Daniela Poss (Brookeville/Good Counsel) each had 10. Chambliss finished with seven first-half points.

Frostburg State (10-10, 7-4 CAC) went 17-of-25 from the free throw line, including 7-of-8 in the first half where the Mustangs did not even have an attempt.

Straka and Elizabeth Carrington accounted for nearly half of the Bobcats' offense, totaling 19 and 15 points, respectively. Mindy Sharp, the CAC's second-leading rebounder, had eight points and nine rebounds.

Stevenson, who suffered its 18th-straight conference loss, look to break the streak on Monday when they travel to Salisbury for a 6:00 p.m., tipoff against the Sea Gulls in a game that was rescheduled from Wedneday.
