CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior Brittany Cohen (Fayetteville/Jamesville-DeWitt) recorded 12 points and 12 assists and was one of four Cortland double-figure scorers as the Red Dragons knocked off visiting Fredonia, 86-55. Cortland snapped a two-game losing streak and is now 12-4 overall and 7-3 in SUNYAC play. Fredonia falls to 3-13 and 1-9.
 
Cohen dished out six assists in each half. She finished the game with three steals and four rebounds. Senior Jen Polan (Westhampton Beach) led Cortland with 15 points off the bench. She scored 11 points in the first half, including three three-pointers, and finished the game with three assists.
 
Junior Micki Volpini (Newfield) scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and added three steals, while junior Molly Byrne (Syracuse/Bishop Ludden) added 12 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists. Senior Jennifer Patten (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) matched Byrne for the team lead with eight rebounds and also registered nine points and three assists.
 
Jaimie Warren (Lakeview/Frontier Central) paced Fredonia off the bench with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in 18 minutes. Kristina Kuscht (Webster/Webster Schroeder) and Marissa Cussins (Corning/Corning-Painted Post West) added eight points each, also off the bench, as Fredonia's reserves accounted for 42 of the team's 55 points.
 
Cortland opened the game with a 20-4 lead in the first 6:12 and led 25-12 with 9:13 remaining. Fredonia went on a 10-0 run over the next 3:24 and was within 25-22, but the Red Dragons finished the half on a 17-2 spurt to take a 42-24 halftime lead. Polan started the run with two three-pointers, both set up by Cohen, and Cohen added six points during that stretch.
 
The hosts built the lead to 30 at 61-31 with 14:56 remaining and led by as much as 40 points at 79-39 with 7:01 remaining. Cortland shot 55 percent from the field in the second half and 49 percent for the game. The Red Dragons held Fredonia to 34 percent from the field and 18 percent (4-of-22) from behind the three-point arc.
 
Cortland will host Buffalo State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
