Grove City Defeats Westminster in PAC Action

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 66-57 at home to Grove City Wednesday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game. The Titans fall to 4-12 on the season and 0-8 in the PAC, while the Wolverines improve to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Junior forward Emily Dolsak led the Titans with 15 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Katie Hughes came off the bench for Westminster and bucketed 14 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor.

Senior point guard Kaitlin McCarthy tied a season high for the fourth time this season with seven assists. McCarthy also sank nine points.

Four Grove City players scored in double figures led by Christine Slater with 17 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds. Slater, Grove City's second all-time leading scorer, entered the game averaging a PAC-best 19.3 points per game.

Alison Wells also bucketed 14 points to go with eight boards for Grove City, while Megan Gibson and Megan Gebrosky scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Wolverines led by as many as seven in the first half before leading 36-30 at halftime. The Titans led briefly at the 14:11 mark of the second half, but Grove City reestablished the lead for good when Leah Gibson nailed a 3-pointer to put the Wolverines up 47-44 with 10:19 left.

Grove City went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-point, 62-52 lead, capped off by Alison Wells' jumper with 2:12 remaining.

Westminster stays at home Saturday as it hosts Bethany at 2 p.m.
