The Millikin women's basketball team picked up a 67-54 win at Augustana College on Jan. 18.

            The game was a tight contest most of the way with the Big Blue holding a 30-27 advantage at the half.  In the second half, the Big Blue had trouble shaking the Vikings until late in the game when Millikin opened up its first double digit lead of the half with three minutes left to play.

            Millikin shot 41 percent from the field, but struggled from beyond the three point line hitting only 33 percent of its shots.  Augustana was held to 31 percent from the field and 20 percent from beyond the three point line.  Millikin won the battle on the boards 45-38.  Millikin committed 23 turnovers while forcing the Vikings into 16.

            Millikin had four players scoring in double figures lead by Beth Wellbaum with 15 points and Julia Robert with 14.  Robert had a team high 10 rebounds.  Elise Wildman had 11 points and Nikki Tipsword had 10. 

            Whitney Miller and Molly Ethridge lead the Vikings with 11 points. 

            Millikin improves to 12-4, 4-1 while Augustana goes to 4-12, 0-5.

            The Big Blue will host Carthage College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
