Oglesby Powers Guilford to Road Win at Emory & Henry, 71-62

EMORY, Va. – Gabby Oglesby notched her second double-double in as many games to lead visiting Guilford College past Emory & Henry College, 71-62, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball action Tuesday.

Oglesby paced the Quakers (9-6, 5-4 ODAC) with 16 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in her third start of the season. She also blocked a shot, which ties her with Jennie Keichline '04 for first place in school history with 37 rejections this year.

Guilford used a 20-3 run in the first half to open a 33-11 advantage before the Wasps (1-11, 0-8 ODAC) pulled to within 35-22 at halftime. Quakers' senior Lauren LeFevers led the way with two three-pointers and all eight of her points in the opening half.

The Quakers' lead grew to 17 in the second half, but Emory & Henry again rallied and made it a 50-44 game with 8:26 remaining on a Jalan McPherson basket. Guilford's Kayla Adams answered with a three-pointer and the Wasps never drew closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Adams and Jazlyn Gibbs both finished with 12 points for the Quakers, who owned a 53-34 rebounding edge. Guilford had 21 offensive boards, which led to a 19-5 edge in second-chance points. LeFevers corralled eight rebounds and Gibbs added seven caroms.

McPherson's 20 points led all scorers. Ashlyn Baird (16 points) and Christina Howard (12 points) both scored in double figures off the bench.

Guilford visits league-rival Lynchburg College Saturday (1/22) at 4:00 p.m.
