TAKOMA PARK, Md.--Senior Allyson Lethbridge matched her career-high with 26 points as the Hood College women's basketball team (7-7) registered a 68-61 nonconference win over Washington Adventist University (0-14) Saturday evening.

Hood won its second straight game and third in its last four to get back to .500 on the season. The Blazers' seventh win is also the most since the 2005-06 season when Hood posted a 15-11 overall mark.

Lethbridge connected on 8-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-11 from the foul line to tie her career-high scoring effort set her freshman year against Penn State-York. Sophomore Emily Maerz also came off the bench to set two new career-highs of 18 points, including four three-pointers, and seven rebounds.

The Blazers trailed early but assumed a lead they would not surrender at the 15:48 mark on consecutive baskets by Kelsey Knippenberg. Hood led by as many as 10 in the opening stanza and took a 35-28 advantage into halftime.

A layup by Kameran Evans at the 9:03 mark gave Hood its largest lead of the night, 56-42, and although the Lady Shock trimmed the deficit to four in the final minute, Lethbridge knocked down all four of her free throws in the final 14 seconds to preserve the win for the Blazers.

Knippenberg matched her career-high with seven rebounds and finished with six points while Briana White netted six points, five boards and a career-high-tying four steals. Dyanna Prater chipped in six assists and four points.

The Blazers return to Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday hosting the University of Mary Washington at 6 p.m. at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick.
