ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — A distinct height advantage led to a dominating 46-29 advantage on the glass as the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team earned an 80-34 non-conference victory over Lancaster Bible College at Thompson Gymnasium Thursday night.

The Blue Jays (8-5) wasted little time in opening up healthy lead. Behind five points from Megan Strohman and four each from Kaity Snyder and Jayci Scannapieco, E-town ran off 17 of the first 19 points. Included in the run were six of the Jays 19 offensive rebounds on the evening. Snyder accounted for three of them herself.

Points continued to pile up for Elizabethtown, which improved to 7-2 in games outside the Commonwealth Conference this season. Strohman finished the half with nine and Snyder with eight. Kendra Beittel converted two of her four first half tries and was 2-of-2 at the free throw line for seven first half points. Snyder's layup with 14 seconds to go gave E-town a 24-point cushion (39-15), it's largest of the half.

Nadine Yunginger led E-town's charge out of the locker room, as she drilled consecutive threes to get the Blue Jays started again. This time the home side opened with a 20-3 run that was capped by a Beittel trey that made it 59-18 with 12:40 remaining.

Lancaster Bible (5-9) tried to stop the bleeding, but it had no answers Thursday. The Chargers entered play facing an issue Elizabethtown is all too familiar with —lack of depth. Each of the nine players on LBC's roster got more than 10 minutes of run in the defeat.

Leading scorer Lacy McClaine racked up 16 points for her 11th double-figure game in 14 tries this year. She was a perfect 8-of-8 at the line as well, but was the only Charger to eclipse double-figures.

E-town had no such problems in the scoring department. Snyder's third double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) in her last four games led the way for the Blue Jays. Scannapieco added career-highs of 12 points and eight rebounds. Strohman (15), Yunginger (11) and Beittel (10) all reached double figures, as the Jays shot 42 percent for the game and 93 percent from the charity stripe (13-of-14).

Kelly Sauerzopf came close to registering her second double-double of the year with eight points and nine boards. E-town gathered a season-high 19 offensive rebounds in outrebounding the Chargers by 17. The Jays also made their presence felt around the basket by blocking six shots. Sauerzopf registered half of those.

Balanced play from all eight players that were healthy led to E-town's control of most statistical categories. They outscored the Chargers 30-8 in the paint, 32-3 off turnovers, 13-0 on fast breaks and 19-4 on second chances. In addition, the Elizabethtown reserves collected 25 points to LBC's four.

Tuesday night's game was the fourth this season in which Elizabethtown has scored 80 points or more. The team will look to carry that momentum into Saturday afternoon's Commonwealth Conference tilt with Albright. It is the Jays' Pediatric Cancer Awareness Game, and donations will be collected with the proceeds going to the Four Diamonds Fund. Admission is free and tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 4 p.m.
