TAKOMA PARK, Md. – The Cardinals earned their tenth win of the season on Tuesday evening with a convincing 70-37 victory over Division II Washington Adventist.  13 of 14 Cardinals who played scored, led by Jill Woerner (13) and Jenny McGann (11) as CUA improves to 10-4 overall.

CUA began the game on a 13-2 run less than four minutes in, but the Cardinals then went scoreless for over three minutes, which prevented them from blowing the game open.

A Jenny McGann basket with 2:43 remaining before halftime seemed to get the Cardinals offense in gear, as they ran off 9 of the final 11 points to take a 32-14 lead into halftime.

Holly Janicki's jumper with 13:44 to play gave CUA its first 20-point lead of the game, and Mary McGann's basket two minutes later made it a 25-point margin.

The lead swelled to 30 on Janicki's three-pointer at the 6:49 mark, while Claire McEvily's layup 20 seconds later gave CUA its largest lead up to that point, at 32 points.

Kelly Ryan's steal and layup in the closing seconds set the final margin at 33, which also matched the Cardinals biggest lead of the night.

Janicki scored nine points for CUA, while Kerri Confrey totaled eight, Ryan scored six and Katarina Owunna, who was seeing her first action since December 11, added five.  Woerner pulled down a team-high eight boards and Jenny McGann handed out four assists.

CUA forced Washington Adventist into 34 turnovers, and the Cardinals defense also harassed the home team into a 30-percent shooting performance.

Vanessa Rice with 13 and Roneth Bubb with 10 led Washington Adventist in scoring and Bubb's nine rebounds led the team.

CUA heads to New York on Friday to take on Merchant Marine Academy in its next game.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. as the Cardinals look for their second straight conference win.
