The Saint Vincent women's basketball team improved to 6-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 73-64 victory over visiting Waynesburg University.

SVC scored the game's first 13 points and never trailed, taking a 38-32 lead into the halftime break.  The Bearcats then opened the second half with a 7-point run to make it 45-32, and held off a late Waynesburg rally to stretch their winning streak to seven.

Four SVC players scored in double figures. Brittany Sedlock led the way for the Bearcats, posting her sixth double-double of the year with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Devin McGrath and Maria Baroffio each scored 14.  Emily Fenton tallied 13 points and seven rebounds.

Baroffio got the Bearcats off to a fine start, hitting a long three-pointer just 11 seconds into play.  Three minutes later, Baroffio hit another long bomb, giving SVC the 13-0 lead with 16:50 left in the half.

Saint Vincent maintained a double-digit lead for the next several minutes, but Waynesburg then began to chip away, embarking on an 11-4 run capped off with an Elisha Jones jump shot with 11 minutes left in the half that made the score 20-16 SVC.

Four minutes later, Waynesburg would chip the deficit down to 23-21 after a pair of foul shots, but moments later, back-to-back buckets from Sedlock would push SVC's lead back to 10, 36-26, with 1:32 left.  The Bearcats would eventually take a 38-32 lead into the intermission.

The Bearcats started the second half in much of the same fashion as the first, out-scoring the Yellow Jackets 19-6 over the first 5:30 to increase the lead to 51-38 on a Baroffio lay up.  Two minutes later, SVC's lead would stretch to 57-42 after a Melissa Mansur jumper, but the Yellow Jackets would again come back, cutting their deficit to 61-54 with 5:50 remaining in regulation.

Saint Vincent would hold off the late Yellow Jacket charge, with Sedlock going 6-for-8 from the foul line over the final 2:30 to ice the Bearcat win.

For the game, the Bearcats shot 52 percent from the floor (28-for-54), compared to a 33 percent mark (21-for-63) from the 'Jackets.  Waynesburg did post three double-digit scorers on the night, with 18 points from Hannah Hunter, 15 from Jessi Drayer, and 14 from Jones.

The victory improved the Bearcats to 13-1 overall, and the team has now won 20 of its past 21 games dating back to January of last season, while SVC improves to 18-1 on its home court since the beginning of last season.

Waynesburg drops to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in PAC play.
