Big Blue Women Survive at North Park 67-60

            The Millikin women's basketball survived a cold shooting first half and downed North Park University 67-60 in Chicago on Jan. 8.  Millikin is now 10-3, 2-0 and North Park is 7-6, 1-1.

            Millikin took its first lead in the game with 11 seconds left to play in the first half when Elise Wildman hit a layup and free throw to give the Big Blue a 24-23 advantage.

Millikin shot only 27 percent in the first half including going 0-10 from three point range.

            North Park regained the lead in the second half building the advantage to as large as eight points before Millikin began its comeback.  The Big Blue took the lead for good with 8:45 left in the game when Nikki Tipsword hit a three pointer to make it 43-41.  The Big Blue would open up a 10 point advantage with two minutes left to play before hanging on for the seven point win.

            Millikin shot 36 percent from the field for the game and held North Park to 34 percent.  Millikin ended up 6-21 from three point range.  The Big Blue out rebounded the Vikings 44-36.

            Millikin's top scorer was Julia Robert with 16 points.  Wildman, Tipsword and Crystal Zeigler each had 12 points.  Wildman had a team high eight rebounds.

            Sarah Peterson led the Vikings with 16 points.  Roxanne Jones had nine rebounds for North Park.

            Millikin hosts Illinois Wesleyan on Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
