#4 Babson Races Past Mount Holyoke

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Jan. 8, 2011) – Led by forwards Kathleen King, Nicole Wurdeman and Sarah Collins, the fourth ranked Babson College women's basketball team cruised to a 76-33 victory over Mount Holyoke College this afternoon at Staake Gymnasium. The trio combined for 47 points and 26 rebounds, as the Beavers ran their record to 12-0 this season.

Mount Holyoke was paced by juniors Tricia Chase and Christine Chancy, who tallied seven points apiece. Sophomore guard Angelica Pascual and first year forward Jennine Vizcaino, netted five points apiece, while junior forward Bree Hollinger added four points and six boards. The Lyons made four three-pointers and shot 25.0% (13-52) from the field.

Babson (12-0, 6-0 NEWMAC) sizzled from the floor, converting 54.8% (34-62) of its attempts. The Beavers finished with 20 assists on 34 made baskets and also won the battle of the boards 50-20. They scored 38 of their points in the paint. Collins recorded 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to complete her double-double. King also notched a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards, while Wurdeman poured in a game best 19 points. Senior forward Damisi Adewumi chipped in with seven assists off the bench.

A three-pointer by Pascual knotted things up at 8-8 at the 15:49 mark, but Babson scored the next 12 points to gain control of the contest. The Beavers built a 49-17 halftime advantage and led by as many as 46 points (72-26) down the stretch.

Mount Holyoke (2-9, 1-5 NEWMAC) will return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts WPI at 7:00 p.m.
