Jamaica, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team dropped a CUNY Athletic Conference South Division matchup to the Cardinals of York College earlier tonight by a score of 73-63. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 6-5 overall on the season and 2-1 in the CUNYAC, while the Cardinals improve to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

The first half featured a game of runs from both teams, as Brooklyn was the first to take control of the game with a 15-0 run. Down by two, 12-10, at the 12:23 mark of the first half, the Bulldogs would utilize their 15-0 run to take a 25-12 lead with 8:13 left in the half. Senior Ashley Allen helped key the run scoring eight of the 15 points. The Cardinals would eventually chip away at their deficit to come back in the game. After a bucket from senior Amber Gordon gave Brooklyn a six point advantage, 30-24, with 2:15 remaining before the break, the Cardinals would go on an 8-0 run to close out the half and head into the locker room with a two point lead, 32-30, their first lead of the game since the 12:23 mark of the half.

The Bulldogs scoring drought would continue into the second half, as York scored the first 11 points of the second stanza to take a 43-30 lead. Junior Justine O'Callahan would eventually end the drought and the Cardinals 19-0 run with a basket at the 16:08 mark of the second half. The Bulldogs would show their resiliency battling back as a layup from senior Ariel Smith cut Brooklyn's deficit to five, 67-62, with just 1:51 remaining in the game. However, that's as close as the visitors would get as the Cardinals would defend their home court with a 73-63 victory.

Brooklyn's offense struggled for much of the game, as the Bulldogs were held to just 32% (24-for-75) shooting from the field for the game, while York shot nearly 50% from the floor, 28-for-58 (48%). The Cardinals also held a slim rebounding edge, 47-42.

Kadisha Wickham powered York recording a double-double with 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting, to go along with 17 rebounds. Both were game-highs. Maimouna Dabo and Shadae Rice were also in double figure scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Dabo also dished out five assists. Niya Jarvis chipped in with 12 rebounds.

For the Bulldogs, Gordon finished the night with a team-high 15 points, while Smith netted 14 points to go along with seven rebounds. O'Callahan was the third Brooklyn player in double digits with 10 points. Senior Elisha Raiford was solid with nine points and nine rebounds.

Brooklyn returns to action this Saturday, December 8th, as the Bulldogs will host the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC South Division battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 pm at the West Quad Center Gymnasium.
