Widener, Williams Win at Wesley Shootout

DOVER, Del. - Widener used a game high 27 points and 19 rebounds from Kate Dellinger to erase a 14-point haltime deficit and pull out a 72-70 win at Wesley in the first round of the Wesley Shootout.

The Pride (11-1) came out ice cold, making just two of their first 17 shots as Wesley jumped ahead 24-4 midway through the first half.  The Wolverines (5-4) led 38-24 at the break behind 16 of Jazmine Miller's (Dover, Del./Dover) 18 points on the evening. 

A pair of free throws by Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) still gave Wesley a 13-point lead, 59-46, with 8:18 to play.  Dellinger, however, scored eight points during a 20-6 that resulted in a 66-65 Widener lead after a Francesca Lee bucket with 2:27 to go.

Dellinger hit just 3-of-12 in the first half, but rebounded for 18 points in the second half to spark the comeback.  Vanessa Hejnas and Lee also had double-doubles as Widener pulled down 60 rebounds on the night. 

Dellinger also added two blocks and three steals.

Boyd led the Wolverines with 21 points on the evening and dished out eight assists, blocked two shots and notched a season-high four steals.  Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) blocked three shots and had 10 rebounds.

Williams 79, Drew 51

Williams used a 19-5 run midway through the second half to break open the other semifinal and cruised to the victory.

The Ephs outrebounded the Rangers 50-26 and held a 22-5 edge in second chance points. 

Jennie Harding had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win.  Chessie Jackson added a team-high 15 points, while Grace Rehnquist came off the bench for 14 points on four threes. 

Danielle Barber scored 15 of her 16 in the first half to lead Drew.  Jen Mateo hit a pair of threes late to finish with 10 points.

Wesley will face Drew in the consolation game at 2:00 PM, while Widener and Williams square off for the Championship at 4:00 PM.
