Mount Downs Yeshiva to Sweep Weekend Action

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Boosted by 14 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore Kate Hartnett (Floral Park, N.Y.), the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team completed a perfect weekend with a 77-7 defeat of Yeshiva University on Sunday. The Knights close the first semester at 8-2 and remain unbeaten in the Skyline at 5-0.

The Mount raced out to a 20-2 advantage in the game's first 12 minutes and stretched their lead to 31-7 as the clock ticked under two minutes to play in the opening half. From there, the Knights would shutout the Maccabees for the rest of the way, scoring the final 46 points of the contest.

Hartnett connected on 7-of-14 from the field on her way to a game-high 14 points. Junior Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) contributed 13 points, while junior Jen Mocanu (Belford, N.J.) pitched in with 10 points. Sophomore Becky Metzger (Point Pleasant, N.J.) also had a nice afternoon, tallying eight points and collecting 11 boards.

The Knights limited Yeshiva to just 1-for-43 from the field and forced the Maccabees into 29 turnovers.

Mount Saint Mary returns to action on Thursday, January 6 with a home date against NYU-Poly. The tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Center.
