FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Two first half runs put the Bridgewater Eagles women's basketball team ahead at the break before an impressive start to the second half kept the Eagles unbeaten with an 85-67 victory over Ottawa University at the Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Eagles opened the game on a 10-0 run to jump ahead of Ottawa with 16:35 to play in the first half, before the offense temporarily went cold.

Bridgewater went on a four-plus minute scoreless streak, allowing Ottawa to chip the lead in half at a 15-10 tally with 12 and change left in the opening frame.

With 12:26 left in the first stanza, a Katelynn Hottinger (Linville, Va./Broadway) layup sparked a 14-1 run which put Bridgewater back ahead by double-digits at a 29-11 margin.

Things remained even over the final eight minutes of the first half as the Eagles took a 46-28 lead into the intermission.

Ottawa dropped the first bucket of the second half to cut the lead to 15 before a 15-5 run from the Eagles built the lead to 25 points at a 61-36 tally with 13:33 to play.

Over the final 10 minutes of the game, Ottawa was able to get the Bridgewater lead to as low as 15 points on multiple occasions, but it was the Eagles cruising by an 85-67 tally, pushing Bridgewater to a perfect 7-0 record.

Senior Jordan Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) was impressive in the victory, tallying a game-high 27 points for the Eagles. The Bridgewater, Va. native had 17 points in the first half of the game.

Sophomore Jessica Mullen (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) was also impressive on the offensive end, netting 16 points in the win while Hottinger just missed another double-double with 10 points and a game-high nine boards. Senior Bianca Booker (Blackstone, Va./Nottoway) also scored 10 points for the Eagles in the win.

From the field, Bridgewater was exceptional, outshooting the Braves by a 47%-to-40% margin.

From beyond the arc, the Eagles were solid, shooting at a 43% clip (6-of-13).

Bridgewater is back in action tomorrow in the team's final game before a cruise to the Bahamas and the Christmas break. At 8:00 a.m. the Eagles put their unbeaten record on the line against Manchester.
