Women’s Hoops Downs Bryn Mawr 72-35

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Gettysburg College opened with the first 14 points and never looked back en route to a 72-35 victory at Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference women's basketball action on Tuesday inside Schwartz Gym.

 

Four Bullets reached double-figures in the victory with junior Sara Kinsley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) netting a game-high 15 points. Fellow junior Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) added 14 points and freshman Rianna Doane (Glen Mills, Pa./Bayard Rustin) posted a personal best for the second game in a row with 13 points. Junior Lauren Dadigan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added a season-high 11. 

Gettysburg (4-1, 1-1 CC), ranked 21st in the latest D3hoops.com national poll, scored on seven of its first eight possessions to open the game. Doane began the surge with a three-pointer and Kinsley ended the run with three-straight points to set the score at 14-0 at 14:45.

 

The visitors ended the half in similar fashion to the start, putting up points on five of its final seven possessions, capped with a jumper by Dadigan right before the horn which set the halftime score at 38-11. 

Bryn Mawr (0-4, 0-2 CC) picked up its offense in the second stanza on the strength of 12 second-half points by Lindsey Darvin. However, Gettysburg continued to dominate between the lanes and led by as many as 40 down the stretch. 

The Bullets canned 53.3 percent (16-of-30) of their field goal tries in the second stanza and finished at a clip of 47 percent for the game. The visitors did most of the damage in the paint where they out-scored the hosts 32-8.

 

Kinsley finished 7-of-11 from the field and added eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Dadigan also grabbed eight boards, while Doane and McGrory each dished out four assists. Freshman Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and sophomore Alyssa Oursler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) each posted six points off the bench.

 

Darvin led Bryn Mawr with 13 points, while Nicolette Parmese posted a dozen points and a game-high nine rebounds. 

Gettysburg returns home to face Johns Hopkins University on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
