Ozarks uses hot hand from long range to post 78-65 win over Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. (Nov. 22) -- University of the Ozarks drained a barrage of 3-pointers to earn a dominant 78-65 victory over Hendrix College on Monday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium.  The Eagles were 14-of-31 from behind the arc and led by at least 12 points in the last 32:21.

The two teams exchanged the lead three times in the first four minutes before the Eagles snagged the final advantage on a layup from junior Lacey Phillips with 16:28 left in the first half.  Ozarks went on a 22-5 run over the next six minutes to earn a commanding 25-9 lead.

The Eagles led by as much as 20 points on two occasions in the first half and took a 43-25 advantage into the locker room.  Ozarks eventually stretched its lead to a game-high 27 points on a 3-pointer from junior April Young with 10:13 left in regulation.  The Eagles put it on cruise control and led by at least 13 points the rest of the way.

The Warriors had three players in double-digits with junior Katy Ashley-Pauley (pictured) leading the way at 14 points.  Senior Christina Byler added 13 points and first year Jamie Tate scored 12 points.  Ashley-Pauley and junior Jordan Henderson paced the team with five assists apiece.  Byler posted her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.

Young led the Eagles with 24 points, while Phillips tallied 20 points and junior Ashley Teague collected 13 points.  Junior Sabrina Goddard led Ozarks with nine rebounds and Phillips dished out a game-high seven assists and five steals.

Hendrix will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when the Warriors host Rust College at 5 p.m. CT.
