Meredith Basketball Tames Wildcats in Home Opener

Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball team opened the season with a win at home.  The Avenging Angels (1-0) downed the Randolph Wildcats (0-2) 76-34.  

Meredith took the opening tip and never looked back pushing a halftime lead to a 26 point advantage at 37-11.  The Avenging Angels continued to pour it onto the Wildcats, as Danielle Lee's free throws with five minues remaining gave Meredith a 45 point lead.  

The Avenging Angels were led by five players in double-digit scoring.  Bryana Holmes led all scorers with 14 points.  Kristin Stewart had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to go with eight blocks.  Ashley Hudson had 12 points while Allyson Stephenson had 10 points.  Freshman Rah'nika Jones started her career with a double-double of her own with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Meredith returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Guilford College for a 1 p.m. game.
