Pioneers Earn 68-51 Win Over Evergreen State In Season Opener

OLYMPIA, Wash. – In the team's season opener on the road, the Lewis & Clark women's basketball team earned a solid 68-51 victory over Evergreen State. Sophomore Kristina Williams led the way for the Pioneers with a game-high 21 points, finishing 3-4 from behind the three-point arc and 2-2 from the free-throw line.

Junior Neva Hauser ended the night with 11 points for the Pios, while freshman Taylor Wang chipped in nine. Hauser finished with a team-high seven rebounds for the Pioneers. Transfer Daron Dean came up with five rebounds for the Pios, while Williams, Margaret Dowling, Christina Herring and Megan Spence all came down with four.

The Geoducks were led by 15 points from Latrina Woods and nine from Latifa Ward. Ward ended the night with a game-high nine boards and Woods finished with eight.

Throughout the course of the game all but one Pioneer made their way into the game. In the first half of action the Pioneers took a 33-24 lead into the half after shooting .464 from the floor. The second half was no different than the first, with the Pioneers in control of the contest the whole way.

Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Pamplin Sports Complex, when they host the Bon Appetit Tournament.
