Bulldogs Run Past Cedar Crest in Season Opener

Allentown, PA (November 15, 2010) – Senior Lori Lidlow led four players in double figures with 19 points as the DeSales University women's basketball team got off to a fast start with a 79-28 win over Cedar Crest College in non-conference action on Monday evening.

Leading by just two points mid-way thru the second half, the Bulldogs (1-0 overall) shook off some early game cobwebs and used a 28-7 run over the 9:46 to build a 39-16 halftime advantage.  Lidlow started the run with four straight points before senior Megan Montchyk and junior Hannah Smith knocked down back-to-back three-pointers.

DSU cruised home in the second half allowing just 12 points in the second stanza to the Falcons (0-1 overall).  For the game the Bulldogs shot 43.9 percent and forced 47 turnovers.  DeSales fell just three steals short of tying the single-game record with 29 swipes and out-rebounded CCC, 38-34, despite taking 23 more shots in the game.

Lidlow totaled her game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Freshman Sondrine Glovas added 12 points and four steals, Montchyk had 10 points, and freshman Julia Duffy finished with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.

Smith tallied six points, five assists, and five steals and sophomore Colleen Gavin and senior Shaina Dymond each had seven points.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they return to the road to take on Cabrini College in another non-conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
