ANGOLA, Ind. - The Vikings of Berry College fought back for a late comeback that resulted in a 79-74 close loss to the 10-1 Calvin Knights on Saturday in their final game of the St. Andrews Products Classic -hosted by Trine University.

Calvin's 14-0 run across the next three minutes of the first half created some distance that the Vikings would have to answer (24-8). The fight came alive in Berry as they took a 17-point deficit and quickly cut it to five with a minute before halftime. The team was led by leading scorer Blake Campbell, who had 27 on the day and Braxton BenhamDrew Winegarden, and Godwin all tallied in important buckets.

Heading to the locker room at the half, Berry found themselves down nine after a late run from the Knights, 41-32.

Making 15 free-throws in the second, the Vikings battled across their final 20 minutes. Down 15 in the first two minutes of the final half, Berry started to chip away but it seemed Calvin always came right back with another run. This time the Knights pushed their lead to 18 at 64-46 with 11 minutes to go.

With key free-throws and a huge steal and dunk from Benham, five minutes turned that 18-point lead to eight. Campbell's layup at the three-minute mark brought a one possession game upon the gym as fans hoped for an amazing comeback win.

Back and forth baskets ended with a huge Riley Costas three stunning the Knights as the Vikings were now one point away from tying the game (73-72).

Although the Vikings found a way to outscore the Knights 42-38 in the second half, the team would still come up short at 79-74.
